The Multiple Uses of SONIC Liquid Seaweed
- Livestock supplement: provides kelp minerals, including iodine and trace elements, in a form animals can readily absorb.
- Seed treatment: coats seeds with beneficial microbes and natural plant growth compounds to support strong germination and early root growth.
- Soil conditioner: natural seaweed compounds help improve soil structure, aeration and water-holding capacity.
- Soil mineraliser: supplies a broad range of ocean-derived minerals and trace elements.
- Biostimulant: natural compounds stimulate root growth, nutrient uptake and plant tolerance to stresses like heat and dry conditions.
- Foliar spray: nutrients and trace elements are absorbed through the leaf, delivering a fast boost when plants need it most.
- Compost activator: adds beneficial microbes that speed up the breakdown of organic matter.
See What Australian Farmers are Saying
The sheep are fat.
The sheep rarely have a problem with worms, and the quality of the grass is much better.
The seaweed we take out to the cattle, put that in troughs for them, which they love. It doesn’t last long.
Advantages of Using Liquid Seaweed for Livestock
SONIC Liquid Kelp Seaweed for Livestock contains naturally occurring minerals and trace elements, including iodine, to complement your livestock’s diet. Its contribution to mineral intake depends on the amount consumed and the animal’s pasture, feed and other supplements.
Liquid Kelp Seaweed’s Unique Qualities
✔ Naturally Occurring Iodine
SONIC Liquid Seaweed contains kelp-derived iodine, an essential mineral involved in normal thyroid function and metabolism.
✔ Fermented with Microbial Cultures
Cold-fermented Australian kelp, with previous testing identifying lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in the finished liquid supplement.
✔ Seaweed Minerals for Your Feeding Program
Naturally occurring minerals and trace elements to complement pasture, feed and other livestock supplements.
✔ Australian Ocean Kelp
Made from Australian bull kelp, Durvillaea potatorum, using SONIC Natural Farming’s cold fermentation process.
✔ Practical Liquid Supplement
Available ready-made in bulk or produced on your farm with a SONIC System, ingredients, training and support.
Why Does SONIC Use Cold Fermentation and Microbial Cultures?
SONIC Natural Farming use cold fermentation to process Australian bull kelp into a liquid seaweed livestock supplement. Microbial cultures are part of the production process, bringing together kelp-derived minerals and fermentation microorganisms.
✔ Biological Processing
Fermentation uses microbial activity to transform components of the seaweed as the liquid supplement develops.
✔ Naturally Occurring Minerals
The finished product contains kelp-derived minerals, including iodine. Previous laboratory results are shown in the analysis table.
✔ Microbial Cultures
Previous testing has identified lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in SONIC Liquid Seaweed.
✔ Liquid Form for Practical Feeding
The liquid format provides options for incorporating the supplement into your livestock feeding program. See SONIC’s administration instructions for your feeding setup.

What Makes a Liquid Seaweed Supplement so Good for Animals?
Kelp contains naturally occurring minerals and complex carbohydrates. Research into selected seaweed ingredients has explored their role in livestock digestion and interactions with gut microorganisms.
Seaweed and Prebiotic Research
Prebiotics are substances selectively used by an animal’s microorganisms that provide a health benefit. Certain seaweed carbohydrates have been investigated for this purpose, with results depending on the ingredient, feeding rate and animal species.
SONIC Liquid Seaweed combines Australian bull kelp with microbial cultures through cold fermentation. Previous laboratory testing has identified kelp-derived minerals, lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in the finished supplement. See the analysis and feeding guidance above.

Microbial Culture and Probiotic Research
Research into selected probiotic bacteria and live yeast strains has demonstrated benefits for livestock digestion under particular feeding conditions. The effects depend on the microorganisms used, the feeding rate, diet and animal species.
Live Yeasts and Rumen Fermentation
Studies of specific live yeast feed additives have reported improvements in rumen fermentation and fibre digestion—the processes that help cattle and sheep obtain energy from their feed.
SONIC Liquid Seaweed is cold-fermented with microbial cultures. Previous laboratory testing has confirmed viable lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in the tested product. The analysis above provides those microbial counts alongside the seaweed mineral content.

There are several ways to include it in your livestock’s diet:
In drinking water: Add to water troughs at a dilution of 1:5 to 1:50.
In feed: Add directly to feed, spray onto dry feed, or mix with grain.
As a grain soak: Dilute and use to soak grain before feeding.
In lick blocks: Add to natural mineral lick blocks.
Once diluted, use within two to three days, and don’t store the product in diluted form. Keep it out of direct sun, and make sure animals also have access to fresh, untreated water.

Most farmers give it weekly or fortnightly at the standard dilution of 1:20 to 1:50, added to water troughs or feed. Frequency can be adjusted to suit your conditions:
Regular use: Weekly or fortnightly, as an ongoing part of the diet.
Higher-demand periods: During dry seasons, when feed quality is poor, or in late pregnancy and around calving, foaling and lambing, keep to a regular weekly or fortnightly routine.
Good feed conditions: When pasture and feed quality are good, some farmers reduce to monthly or a few times a year.
It is a naturally cold-fermented liquid kelp supplement containing naturally occurring kelp compounds, such as alginates and fucoidans, along with minerals and the beneficial microbes produced during fermentation. This makes it a natural direct-fed microbial (DFM).
Kelp has a long history of use as a livestock feed ingredient, and many farmers add it to the diet as a natural source of minerals, particularly when feed quality is poor.
This Liquid Seaweed analysis shows its mineral content and microbial counts from previous testing.
